The Ira Arthur home on Dr. F H Clark Farm two miles east of New Market was destroyed by fire around 2:30 am Friday. The New Market fire company helped control the blaze and prevent damage to nearby buildings. Some downstairs furniture was saved but all upstairs contents burned. Origin of the fire unknown and some loss is insured.

Farmer Calls In Mallards as Hunters Lease Slough
A farmer near Algona raised 200 mallard ducks on his land and trained them to come when called. Hunters leased the water rights just before the season, paying him. The farmer called in the mallards, leaving only a few wild teal on the lake.
