Funeral services for Mrs Laura E Ross
Funeral services for Mrs Laura E Ross a former New Market resident were held Wednesday afternoon Oct 17 at the Christian church in Villisca led by Rev Ira E Carney. Burial followed in Villisca cemetery. Born in Cass county Iowa in 1848 she moved with her parents to Taylor county as a child. She married O J Netto in 1873. he died in 1887. Later she married Arza Ross of Villisca and remained in the area. Survivors include a daughter Mrs W T Shepherd of New Market a son G V Netto of Villisca a sister Mrs Edie Raper of New Market fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Halloween Party by Local Orders Delights Siam Guests
The Eastern Star and Masonic members in New Market entertained Siam orders with a ghostly welcome at the door. A mystic maze led to a lodge hall for a program of music readings and a one act play, followed by Halloween games and luncheon. Autumn leaves and jack o lanterns decorated the hall, with about 130 attendees including 40 Siam guests.
