Obituary of Japeth Winfield Walker
Funeral services for Japeth Winfield Walker were held at the Menno-Nite church with Rev. T. J. Overholt presiding. Burial followed at Snowhill cemetery near Com. He died at age 69 at his New Market home May 18 after a long illness. Born in Fort Riley Kansas, he later moved to Iowa and lived mainly in Taylor and Page counties. He is survived by his wife Josephine Walker and a son Floyd Walker of Long Beach.

Ames Dairy Leaders Plan Tax Remittance Forms
Ree dairy leaders in Ames note blank forms for remitting the excise tax on butterfat in early May. Forms are available by writing Burr Willets, executive secretary of the new Town dairy industry commission, care of the Iowa State department of agriculture at Des Moines. The tax is one cent per pound for May 1 to 15 with remittance due by June 15. A fund of 100000 to 125000 is expected to be raised to support an Iowa dairy advertising campaign.

Miss Irene Faurot of Council Bluffs attended the commence evening. The annual school Picnic was held Friday afternoon at the gym. The high school team played the town team, winning by two points. Several from here attended the Sunday school convention Monday at New Market. Mrs Ralph Warmon and two children of Malvern spent the week with her parents. Spent Sunday in Lenox at the home of their parents. Mr and Mrs 0 M Brown and Mr and Mrs Lowell Shum of Lenox spent days at Chas Reed home last week. Mr and Mrs I E Richey spent Sunday to Wednesday in Clarinda with their sons Howard and Perley. Mr and Mrs S H Pennebanker Mildred and Marilyn spent Sunday in Omaha at the home of Mr and Mrs John Dooley. Mildred remained for a few weeks. Mrs O M Brown of Lenox attended commencement exercises here Thursday evening and the picnic on Friday.
