Sick neighbor Wilfford Gaule received help this spring when a group of men with eighteen tractors plowed fifty acres of ground. Committees raising funds for electric light installation on the athletic field report pledges totaling 12060 to date.

Mrs C McPheron returned from Wayne Nebr after meeting grandson Stephen Berger. Lulu Parrish and Louise attended Vernal Goff funeral in Ottawa Kansas. Villa Danny spent three weeks with her brother and returned with Mrs Parrish. Mr and Mrs A B Rood and Mrs Mable MacRae visited Des Moines Saturday. Dr and Mrs C J Swan returned from Lamont after visiting George Swan family. Wilfred Quinn and Wiley Reed returned to Iowa City after visiting Clearfield relatives. Mr and Mrs Vern Yarde and Mr and Mrs S Bixler traveled to Savannah Missouri Thursday.
Decorated in blue and white the Juniors' banquet featured tulip nut cups and a "Make the Best Better" theme. Mothers served the meal, then the group traveled to Bedford for a movie. Junior High pupils and Mrs. Belle Anderson plus a Lake of Three Fires picnic Friday. Birthday dinner honored Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kerns and Mrs. Otto Atkin. Baccalaureate at Methodist Church led by Rev. Watkins and Rev. D C Callison.
Mr and Mrs Waldo Burns and son of Lorimer visited Mrs Burns parents Mr and Mrs Doud Hunter. Pearlie Richey of Cherokee stayed with Maggie Richey and Shan Richey. Lela Clark returned from Omaha caring for a seriously ill brother. Paul Fickess and children visited Albert Fickess family in Cedar Falls. Guy Campain learned of his brother Henry Campain s illness and death in Saint Edward s Nebraska. Walter Jones attended funeral for his stepmother in Mt Ayr. Carol Knapp Karole Jeanne and Robert Blair visited Ida Knapp and S I Knapp in Litchfield Nebraska. Harry Cochran of Mount Ayr visited brother Joe Cochran in Sharpsburg. Vic Mendenhall returned from California with a newborn adopted baby. E E Bridgewater and wife Shenandoah spent weekend with son Frank Bridgewater.
A Friday wind storm caused considerable damage in Sharpsburg and nearby. Schools dismissed after windows shattered. homes, a Key Oil Station, and farm buildings sustained broken windows or collapses. numerous trees were uprooted.

The Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church met with Mrs Ray Kern on Wednesday with thirteen members present. Mrs Leona Garst led the lesson God In Families and refreshments were served. Glenn Brown visited Wesley Town last week and purchased a McHenry Barbara Angus herd sire from Ben G Studer, described as Emperor of Downeside.
Mr. Brown consigned his half-brother to the Reserve Champion bull at the Aber deen Angu Show in Cedar Rapids. He owns a strong herd of registered cows and expects the new addition to boost genetics and herd quality.
Robert Jones, a college student in Ames, visited his parents the weekend. Des Moines guests Darrell Palmer and family returned home Thursday. Hopkins hosted Clyde Wilson and Lynn. Graham Mo visitors Curtis Forcade and family joined the Palmer home. Edward Moore and kin hosted by the Edwards. St Joseph visitors Els worth White and family were there Thursday. Town City trip with Virgil Johns and daughter from Clarinda and Willie Woodruff. Mrs Woodruff, recently hospitalized, returned home. Artie Flynn and Linda finished a Chicago trip after visiting Elmer Garst.
