Timmerman, Adams County soil conservation district commissioner and farmer from near Nada, was named chair of the 1965 Iowa Conservation Districts Field Day and State Contour Plowing Match to be held September 9-10 on six farms northeast of Corning. Farms listed include Jay, Jim and Clair Perry with local organizers planning the two day event expected to draw about 15 000 to 19 000 people.

A series of junior beef cattle field days organized to teach Iowa farm youth feeding fitting and showing beef projects. Dean Hurlburt of the American Angus Association notes the events are sponsored by the Iowa Junior Angus Association with state and national groups. Demonstrations cover dipping grooming showmanship and recognizing correct beef type.
