Athelstan Church Hosts Sunday School and Service

Athelstan Holiness Church invites attendance with Sunday school at 10 am and preaching at 8 pm led by Rev TJ Overholt and pastors TJ and Lulu Overholt. Local notices report visitors and travel, plus a railroad washout causing train suspensions and several local visits over the weekend.

Lenox MRS ED GORDON DIES After Golden Wedding in 1945

Mrs Ed Susy Gordon 77 died at 3 30 am Saturday at Methodist hospital Des Moines born in Pennsylvania moved to Lenox as a child. She and her husband marked their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1945. Sharpsburg Church Invites All to Services and Events

Sharpsburg Presbyterian invites all to Church School and Church Worship on Children’s Day June 22 at 11. Westminster Youth Fellowship Picnic is scheduled for Wednesday evening next week. At 11 o clock on Sunday June 15 a basket dinner follows church services. All former members invited. WSC meets June 19 at Mrs Kenneth Cox home for Guest Day. Choir practice at church Friday. Woman's Association met at Mrs Lloyd Grimm’s home. attendance thirty. Devotional led by Mrs Jim Chase. Members cleaned church and bought twelve chairs. Hostesses included Mrs Mabel Oxley and others. Visitors included the Wainwrights from Hill City and Lenox. families and friends dined with Ray Hayes, Dora Hayes, and Roy Kerns residents nearby. Edith Briggs Visits Bedford from Athens Texas

Miss Edith Briggs of Athens Texas visited Bedford and sparked local chatter with her trip. Her presence drew attention from residents as she toured and shared stories of her hometown.

Wednesday, a visitor sought information about her parents Mr and Mrs George W Briggs landowners in Taylor county over six decades ago. The Briggs family moved east of Bedford then to Bedford where Mr Briggs ran an iron foundry.
