Richard Burton placed second in the district Epworth League oratorical contest held Tuesday evening in Nodaway. His speech titled Whited Septchers drew praise as music by the New Market Methodist Sunday school orchestra accompanied the event.

Gravity marriage joins Miss Georgaina Francis and Scott Cramer

Miss Georgaina Francis daughter of Editor and Mrs J. B. Francis and Scott Cramer of Chicago were wed Monday June 8 at the Francis home in Gravity. The bride teaches at Gravity high school and the groom works for Swift & Company having transferred from Omaha to Chicago. They left Monday for their new home in Chicago.

Sharpsburg Residents Attend Cooper Sale and Visits

A large group from Sharpsburg attended the Cooper sale in Conway on Wednesday. Residents mentioned include Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hamblin, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Smith, Lucy Gardner, and many others. The M. E. Missionary society met with Mrs. Piper Thursday. The Presbyterian Ladies Aid gathered at Mrs. Dave Moser's home with twenty members present. The W C T U meeting at the Presbyterian church was postponed to Wednesday June VW. A service will be held Sunday at 11 o'clock at the Presbyterian church.

Sunday Children’s Day Planned by Sunday School Committee

A Methodist church schedules a Children’s Day on Sunday June 14 with morning worship at ten followed by a program. The offering supports the Student Loan Fund aiding Methodist students pursuing work beyond high school. Since 1873 the fund has helped forty eight thousand. Merry Maids 4-H Club Met At Ferguson Home
