Three Fire campers and visitors to Bedford are invited to tour Lucas Products Co factory. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday to tour this home owned industry which manufactures quality livestock feeds. The plant is located three blocks southeast of the Hardin Theatre.
The Iowa Conservation Commission in Des Moines invites entrants to send details of big catches from Lake of Three Fires. Provide fish length species location and date, angler name and address, legal weight, two witness names and addresses, and a photo of the angler with the fish.
The text claims the Iowa nickname Hawkeye State derives from a James Fenimore Cooper guide in The Last of the Mohicans and notes publicization by Judge David Rover and James G. Edwards in 1838 39, with both men based in Burlington Iowa. It also mentions a proposed interpretation for the name Towa meaning this place or beautiful land.
