Community Church hosts Sunday June 5 at 19 am for a union Sunday School planning session. Local residents and visitors from Clarinda Blockton and Sheridan attend as painting and visits occur around community events.
Memorial Day was observed with a morning service at the Methodist church led by Rev. Paul Barton. A supervised play program opened at the school ground last week, run by the Community Club with supervisors Paul Gates and Hazel Lasley. The schedule runs five days and four evenings weekly for ten weeks for boys and girls of different ages.
Raymond Lobbing visits Maryville and guests come from Quitman Excelsior Springs Beardstown Greeley Kansas City Manhattan and Chicago. The DS C holds its annual guest day at the Masonic Temple. Families gather with Dr C W Kirk and many others over the weekend and week.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Garrison plan move to Milan Missouri as guests Mrs. Roger McAllister and Mrs. Frank Lowery entertain. High score in five table Pinechle won by Mr and Mrs Bailey Gabbert. traveling prize to John Bond. 4 H Club organized with two divisions. Several local visits noted including Shenandoah, Des Moines and St Joseph.
A serenade Sunday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Head drew about seventy neighbors from the New Market area. The Just-a-mere club gathered Thursday with Mrs. Wilma Johnson. Guests included Mrs. Audrey Gant and Hubert Dean of College Springs, Miss Darlene Holker, Elaine Carmichael and Jean Carmichael of New Market. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Floyd Farlow, Mrs. Minnie Rayborn and Mrs. Lola Reid visited Bedford Thursday to view displays at the manual training department of Bedford High School. Francis Farlow and Bob Rawborn, members of the Siam class, and formerly resident Orvie Owens were noted attendees.

Numerous relatives and friends visited over Memorial Day in Shenandoah and nearby towns. Guests included Miss Golda Gray, Ernest Gray and Audrey Gant, Hobart Dean, the Shields family, Ruth Shields, and many others from Bedford, Clarinda, Maryville, Omaha, Lincoln, and St. Joseph. Memorial services were held at Siam and related cemeteries as families shared meals and local social visits.
