Bedford Students to Attend Creston Festival
Ten Bedford vocal music students will participate in the Creston Vocal Music Festival on February 4 and 5. The mass chorus director is Joe McCoy of Grinnell College. The Bedford group rehearses all day February 4 and Thursday before the February 5 concert, with contestants chosen by a hat draw from volunteers who had shown interest in the festival.

Deadline Approaches For BHS College Bound Seniors

New Plan by BHS Juniors for Banquet and Prom Fund
The BHS junior class adopts a dues plan paying $1 per semester instead of bake sales to raise funds for the junior senior banquet and prom. They will operate a concession stand at football and basketball games. Sponsors Mrs. Schulz and Mr. Kimmel report about $500 in the class treasury.

Novel Musical Program Is Presented At BHS
Charles Ramsden presented an assembly on electric string instruments at BHS January 19. His show featured the electric ukulele guitar and his invention the novator. He played She ll Be Comin Round the Mountain on a uranium sensitized rubber band. The act used three instruments sounding like many others. Ramsden noted a close relation between music and science.

Student concert blends science with diverse music styles
A student performer explored the science of sound by studying electronic aspects of each instrument. He sampled classical, opera, march, oriental, Hawaiian, popular, hymns, and folk tunes. The finale featured unique sound effects including an air raid effect on the novator.

Report Cards Issued At BHS Today
Grade cards were distributed to BHS students today January 29. Principal J Frank Nugent notes the semester grade averages the three six weeks plus the semester exam with the exam counting a quarter of the grade. All students were required to take these tests.
