Bedford FFA Chapter Presents Program For National FFA Week
Bedford High School observed National FFA Week with a program in the auditorium on February 20. Club president Jim Lucas and members including Harold Park Ed Sheley Bil Stewart John Whitten and Larry Wilmes led talks and demonstrations on FFA aims parliamentary procedure and the Virginia creed. Norman Annan the vocational agriculture instructor urged continued training to supply new farmers and praised FFA as a key program for farming careers during the week containing Washington's Birthday.

Plan to simplify oral explanations in English I class
BHS freshmen explained a range of devices from model airplanes to cooky presses to show how clarity matters in oral explanations. The lesson produced three mishaps including a plane that wouldn’t fly a dough test that failed to set and a hard boiled egg that became a softie.

Bedford Band Military Ball Set for Tomorrow Evening
Final plans are completed for the Bedford band’s first military ball tomorrow evening. About 35 couples are expected to attend, led by Mrs. Bernice Gold, president of the band mothers’ organization. Music will be on record with a short intermission program, organized by the sponsoring committee.

Bedford Second Graders Set Spelling Record
Bedford second graders set a spelling record with 55 pupils. Fifteen had perfect papers and none of the rest misspelled more than three words. Students and parents enjoyed the Valentine party in Miss Robinson's grade room and she thanked the mothers who helped.

Y-Teens View The House I Live In Movie on Race Understanding
The Y-Teen girls met at 3:30 yesterday February 27 to view The House I Live In, an Academy Award winning film starring Frank Sinatra.
