The annual Blue and Gold banquet took place February 14 at the Clearfield Legion Hall with 65 Cub Scouts Den Chiefs parents and guests sharing a pot luck supper. Recognition was given to multiple Cub Scouts and Den Chiefs including Tom Frame Mike McMath Jerry Brown and others. A Dean’s List student Janet Kerr was noted for semester honors at Clarinda Community Junior College.
Shirley Ann Alentsen and Larry David McNutt wed in a Friday evening ceremony at the Methodist Church in Malcom Iowa The bride is the daughter of Mrs Earl Alentsen of Marcom and the groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Charles McNutt of Diagonal IA The Rev James T Robinson officiated with nuptial music by Joann Schneckloth and Marilyn Stahl The couple and families hosted a reception in the church basement The bride attended Montezuma Community High School class of 1963 and the groom Diagonal class of 1963, employed at Donaldson Manufacturing Co in Grinnell The wedding party included Rose Mary Alentsen maid of honor and Steve McNutt best man.

Members of the Ross Center Sunshine Club will meet March 4 with host Marjorie Wheeler. Roll call will be answered with the phrase Something Trish.
Nellie Nevius celebrated her 90th birthday with a February 14 dinner at the Claude Drennen home in New Market. Attendees included families from Mission Kansas Omaha Lenox and nearby areas as well as Wilmet participation from Wetzel and Fudge families. The item also notes F F Club meeting February 19 with officers elected and Scrabble played. Rebekah Lodge plans a March 2 meeting at 7 30 PM in the I O C F Hall.

The Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service will meet at 2:00 p.m. on March 2 with Circle II hosting. Mrs. Edna Rime and Mrs. Elza Fine will present the program "The Disciplined Life." An executive meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. the same day.
Mr and Mrs Roy Weaver of Blockton celebrate sixty years of marriage with an Open House at the Blockton Auxiliary Hall from two to five in the afternoon on March 7. Friends and relatives are invited and gifts are declined.

The 20th Century Club will meet March 4 with Marie Larison as hostess and Esther Stephens as co-hostess. Myrtle DeBord and Gail Keith present the program Public Affairs. Officers will be elected and roll call will be answered with An idea to improve our community.
Luella Straight will host the Fortnightly Club on March 4 with assistance from Jan Ayer. Dorothy Harbour will chair the program.
Governor declares Eye Bank Week as 32 Taylor county residents sign pledges to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank at University Hospitals for corneal transplants. Readers can contact Eye Bank or Lions Club members to sign pledges. The cornea transplant replaces clouded windows of the eye to restore sight.
The D O C Circle will meet March 3 with Hazel Woods as hostess. Faith and Spencer will lead the gathering.
The Gravity Promenaders host a weekly dance on March 3 at the New Era in Gravity. Gene Beavers will call the evening. Hosts are Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Sheperd and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Curtis.
Agatha Norton will host the Busy Bee Club on March 4 with Pearl Hughes leading the program. Members will answer roll call by solving a riddle.
