Preliminary DOT figures indicate Iowa gasoline consumption is rebounding to 1973 pre embargo levels. Indicators include state motor vehicle registrations rising to 2,614,000 in 1976 and vehicle miles traveled up to about 19.6 billion in 1975 with 1976 likely higher. National data from the Federal Highway Administration show U S daily gasoline use near 7.082 million barrels in 1976, up from 6.944 million in 1973.
