Bedford School News Seven BHIS Graduates Visit Counselor Day
Seven BHIS graduates attending Northwest Missouri State College met with BHS principal J. S. Taylor during the third annual Counselor's Day in Maryville Missouri. Superintendents, principals and counselors discussed educational problems of high school and college students over a coffee hour at the NWMSS Union building. Graduates now freshmen include Virginia Barks Ina Claire Barnes Judy Beemer Judy Cross Sondra Sawyer Maxine Spry and Don Turner. Other graduates enrolled are Peggy Henry Frances Cross and Louise Novinger.

Bedford High School earns eight superior ratings at state speech contest
In preliminary rounds at BHS on February 16 Bedford students Kristi DeMott, Bill Hensch, Paul Jones, Howard Putnam, Evelyn Russell, Marvin Stephens and Edwin Stock achieved superior ratings. The one act play The Decision by Bedford earned a superior rating with cast members Busby DeMott Hensch Poole Stock Thompson and Whetermute. Braddyville presented Madame Butterfly and Bedford the Decision in the evening with the next round scheduled for March at an undetermined site.

New Typewriters Bought For BHS Commercial Dept
BHS purchased ten Royal typewriters at a total cost of 1500 to modernize the commercial department. Old machines will be replaced gradually with a three year maximum use plan and current stock includes 25 machines. Kindergarten Raises 26 Dollars for Polio Drive
Bedford's kindergarten students contributed $26.10 to the March of Dimes in the 10 day drive ending February 11. The kindergarten headed the school’s class contributions though total figures were not tabulated in time for publication. Each student received a card to fill with dimes and return, while high school students were urged to contribute using classroom cards.
