Sharporval families Mr and Mrs W T Brown Mr and Mrs Orval Brown and children Mr and Mrs Irvin Weeda and son Raymond Bill Weeda Mr and Mrs Eddie Brown and son visited Mr and Mrs Glen Brown Wednesday for Gel’s birthday surprise an oyster supper was served.
Sharpsburg residents Mr and Mrs Walter Scott move with their family to the newly bought farm of Mrs Guy Baker. Carl Gold and family from Gravity relocate Saturday to the Beemer farm southeast of Sharpsburg. Thomas family moves from the Beemer farm to the Krantz farm vacated earlier.
The young group will oversee the Sunday evening service at the Presbyterian church with plans announced for the year. Elections of officers were discussed, and the event is set for Sunday, February 26 at the church basement.
Community members Mr and Mrs Pete Richer and relatives hosted relatives at Sunday dinner. I E Richer and E R Pennebaker visited Jess Dresher's home. Kirbys spent Thursday in Lenox with O M Brown's family. Valentine party held at M E church for Sunday school classes. Local youths and guests visited various households, with multiple trips to Lenox and Kirksville.
Nine pupils are nearly ready to perform a play to be presented in the near future.
Rev B R Weetman spoke to SHS on Monday afternoon. A biweekly educational movie series starts March 1 in Sharpsburg school with all teachers contributing. Rev C Max Buck discussed Youth and the Liquor Problem for upper grades. The Sharpsburg boys lost to Benton while the second team won. Four of eight school trophies have been won in two years, latest by the girls. Pictures after Thursday night show the defeated Maloy advancing to finals vs Lenox. A free Tus concert and school exhibit are set for Monday evening March 27 in the gym.
Members of the church attended Sunday services at the Bedford church. Participants included Mrs. Dale Jackson, Mrs. Floyd E filler, Mrs. J E Fuller, Mrs. O Dougherty, Mrs. Etta Malcolm, Maxine Henderson, Deloris and Lois Ariene Anderson, Earlus Carson, Miss Corda Fuller, Sadie Merritt, Sarah Den Robert Dougherty, Marvin Dennis, John Jerty, and Frank Dougherty. Frank Dougherty performed piano duet.
Mrs Edd Murren and daughter Cavender travel from St Francis Kansas after D H Stevens death aged 79. Funeral held Sunday with Stevens remembered for time spent with community during visits to daughter's home. Social events include dinner for Lawrence Davis family with Clarinda and New Market attendees. Women’s Christian Temperance Union met hosted by Mrs John Godfrey with lesson led by Lilly Crafford absent. members assisted in presentation. refreshments served.

Ethel Cavender hosted an all day N S C session on Feb 9 with nine members and a current events roll call. Various bridge clubs met, prizes awarded, and guests attended. Refreshments and programs accompanied farewells and trips as groups planned March gatherings.
New Market residents Lois Crosby and Ethel Smith spent the weekend at Ellsworth and Fred Smith homes. Bernard Corbin of Red Oak dined with Jay and Mrs Parsons. Clyde Neville hosted visitors including Revd Neville and Mrs Soren Neville. Bernard Corbin again stayed with Everett Corbin. Mrs J M Shore returned after a week with her daughter in St Joseph. Mr and Mrs Lawrence Davison moved to the Me Nrese property. J H Hinsley will attend a short course in Food and Dairy Inspectors at Ames.
Waco Kendrick of Kansas City visited Tuesday with his parents Mr and Mrs Ralph Kendrick. Rowena Moon Gerata Moon and Arthur Mosbarger of Euston Iowa were guests of John Cook Sunday at the Steeves home. Charles Wilson visited in St Joseph Thursday. Claude Moorman went to Hamburg Monday for a week's visit at Bud Oehler's. The Pullans and daughter of Glenwood spent Sunday with Ben and family. Pratt Erle Wanda Wilcox Gene at Drennen Elmo home. Margarite Snowball of Clarinda and Otis Wood were dinner guests at the Kendrick home. Fred Joslyn Grace White Kent Fos ten were callers at Eva Raynor home Sunday.
Mrs Leland Jones entertained guests on Tuesday in honor of Mr Jones birthday. The group played Chin-2 Checkers and refreshments were served with attendees including Ms Bryce Melvin and Mr Wars Glenn Butts Mr and Mrs Paul Thompson Donald Paul Beverly and Mary Jo Mr and Mrs Jim Jefferies Mr and Mrs Harvey French Lavonne J B Edward and Billie Miss Marjorie Keith Clyde Shaeffer of Clearfield and George Dearst.
A farewell party was held at the Ralph Allison home Sunday for Mr and Mrs Ralph Allison and family as they move to a near east of Mission church area. Attendees included numerous neighbors and relatives with long list of names present.
A farewell surprise party for the Buzzard family was held at their home on Wednesday evening February 15 as they prepare to move to a farm northeast of Bedford on March first. About eighty guests attended including many neighbors and friends.
Mr and Mrs Milo Allison Mr and Mrs Max Williamson and Virginia Mr and Mrs John Lester Mr and Mrs Vern Lester and Warren Lester gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs Walter Jonnsies Saturday evening for a surprise party in honor of Mrs Johnston. The evening featured Chinese Checkers and refreshments.
Maple Grove Club met with Mrs. Glen Butts on Wednesday February 15 in attendance of eighteen members and one visitor Mrs. Leland Jones. The project lesson Modern Trend in Bread Baking was presented by Mrs. Jim Jefferies.
The Eagle school at Ross township held a teachers meeting on Friday Feb 17 with attendees Eagle School Marguerite Wolverton Donald Beard Donald Paul Thompson Shirley Pickering Bonnie Hensley Beverly Thompson Robert Jones and Richard Jones each earning 100 percent In Spelling the past week Miss Ruth Hickman Elizabeth Beauchamp Dorothy Thompson and Marjorie Keith attended.
Eagle locals Mr and Mrs Kenneth Barks and family attended Maple Grove Sunday school. They then visited Mr and Mrs Frank Gunson and son in the Gunson home. Several other couples and individuals spent Sunday with relatives and attended church activities in the region.
Blockton residents attend the February American Legion Auxiliary conference in Des Moines. A group visited the Pettis home and James Roudebush hospital stay, with many locals hosting clubs and visiting relatives in Des Moines and St. Joseph.
Mrs. Viola Branan hosted an oyster supper with neighbors on Wednesday. J. D. K. members and families held a Valentine party at Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ruppert’s home on Tuesday. Miss Isabelle Heatherington gave a Valentine party at Nodaway Center school for pupils and mothers and served refreshments.
Bonnie Pratt and family presented a western play at Skinner school. Mr. and Mrs Ora Koneene and others celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with neighbors visiting at the Firking home. Cards and Chinese Checkers preceded refreshments. Helping Hand Club met with prizes won by Mrs. Floyd Johnson, Mrs. Johnny Groff and Mrs. Viola Branan. Upcoming meetings noted for March 14 and other club activities include an ice dinner, Valentine favors, and Sunshine Club program planning. Francis Johnson hosted a young people party Friday evening.
Hazel Greff of Guss was absent in Maryville Thursday and Friday due to injuries from slipping on an icy sidewalk. She returned to her studies Sunday evening.
