Social notices from Sharpsburg detail dinners with Eno Hiatt and Scott families, visits by Mohlers Bedfords and Laubs, birthday celebrations for Sleep and Showers, and visitors from Lenox Creston and Mont. Church groups meet March 1 and weekly spiritual life gatherings continue. March of Dimes fundraising totals 85.83.
Feb events include temperance lesson by Bessie Underwood at Sharpaburg Wc meeting with 14 members and 3 guests. The Sharpsburg public library opens Saturdays 1 30 to 3 p m in the bank building offering 2 week checkouts. A church night at the Methodist and a tea for Presbyterian ladies are announced with invitations and guest attendees.
Mason minors met February 12 at the Timberlake school house. Vice President Eddie Ingram called the meeting to order as six members named their projects and breeds. Mike Travis and Norman Akers spoke on soil erosion, while Raymond Sneed showed slides on soil conservation. The next meeting will be at Eddie Ingram's home on March 12.
Mrs Alva Clayton SIAM assisted by Mrs Arlie Beal and others hosted 25 guests at a Beal home shower for Mrs Otho Shepherd with contests and umbrella themed gifts. Birthday party marked Melvin Thurman’s sixth with 13 children. Local residents visited relatives in Saint Joseph Omaha Coin Sham el at weekend and nearby towns.
The Cecil Waldruff home hosted Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clayton and Delores of New Market along with other neighbors on Sunday. The Masonic hall received a cleaning and a new electric stove was delivered. Jerry Rucker and the Jobe family moved to new properties. A farewell gathering for the Renfros drew twenty six attendees as they prepare to relocate near Conway.
Sunday at the John Streitenberger homestead south of Blockton a Holiness Church gathering includes Sunday school at 10 a.m. and preaching at 2:30 p.m. Mrs. T. A. Freeland presides. prayer meeting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Attendees include Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rusco and family near Hopkins and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sickers. News of illness and travel follows with infant death near Stockton Cal. and farm moves involving Woods and Cordell families.
