Funeral services for Mire Charles A. Allen and Bessie May Allen of Bedford were conducted Feb 12 at Bedford Presbyterian Church by Rev. John Kerr. Mrs Allen died Feb 1 186B at Pear Terrace Manor Bedford and was interred at Fairview. She was born May 18 1686 in Bedford to George S. Modier and Bathilda Jane Brock and later lived on farms in Clayton Township before joining Bedford Presbyterian Church. She married Charles Alvin Allen on Feb 17, WWW, and had two sons Francis and Cecil. She later lived in Shenandoah and Bedford with surviving relatives including sister Mrs Beulah Johnson, two daughters-in-law Anna and Aloe, five grandchildren Ronald, gyn, Howard, and others.

He was born March 1 1925 in Taylor County Iowa and married Beulah Maxine Flethral June 4 194? to this union two children were born Mrs Robert Dean Elaine Jackson Bedford and Joyce.

Life of a Lifelong Farmer Remembered in Obituary
The subject spent his life caring for family and farming on the old home place with his father. After marriage he and his wife bought the home, cared for his brother, and endured his mother’s death. Survived by wife two daughters son in law Robert Dean Jackson one grandson Rodney Jackson two brothers Ora Grace Cedarfield Iowa Raleigh Grace Downey California and many relatives and friends. He was a devoted husband father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.

Peace day at the United Methodist Church featured a Hopkins speaker and three Maryville girl students. a colored speaker praised highly. Dr Mattsen from Grant City was invited to visit Mrs Ethel Scott and Mrs Dali Churchi. Local ministers and residents visited, WSCS met, aid society met, and the Methodist pancake and sausage supper drew a good crowd. Virginia Risser cared for Haley during the day. Basil Churchill of Calhan called on Theodore Reith and Carrie Churchill.
