Clarence Stewart reports his uncle Parl Fry informed him of his wife Mrs Charlotte Fry's death at their Fort Wayne home early Sunday. Funeral services were held in Fort Wayne as friends express grief at her passing. Lola Miller Reid thanks for cards flowers and visits during illness in Omaha and at home.
Welsh guests visit the Everett Garrett home near Braddyville with Mr and Mrs Ernest Gray calling. Recent callers in the William Miller home include Mr and Mrs James Pitman, Mr and Mrs Floyd Sprague and family and Mr and Mrs Fred Orr. Betty Blyth Shields ill with flu and F M Manley in poor health. Elvis Johnson of Bedford visits grandparents in the Stewart family. Several families entertain in Arch Clayton home and others visit kin in Siam and nearby towns.
Pete Daugherty buys Ina Steeves property with plans to relocate in March while Mrs. R D Beery buys the Carpenter property and will move soon. Several rentals and purchases are listed including Jesse Levitt residence to Bob Wallace, Van Nice property to A L Martin, and John Cox renting the Wallace farm. Social items cover dinners, birthdays, teas, club meetings, a farewell, and community events in Gravity.
The Bedford Church of Christ began when Jas D Ross hosted founders in 1856 near Bedford, later forming under Elder Hiram Warner and meeting at the Ross schoolhouse. By 1867 a Bedford location emerged, with a 1900 building dedication by F M Rains of Cincinnati. Over four thousand members have served since, shaping a network across the world. Names listed include Hiram Warner Samuel Downing Street Cox Joseph Peregrine Hastin L D Cook and many others who led through 1930s Buck. The Sunday school emerged in the early 1870s with various superintendents and groups such as the Loyal Standby Class and Ladies Aid. The church also served as a Living Link to Tibet in 1918-19 under E E Lowe and A L Shelton.
Seniors prepare for cap and gown and announcements while juniors elect officers led by Sterling Wallace and Marjorie Beemer. Sophomores held a Friday gym party with pie and wafers, and freshmen reports highlight tools crafted by Manual Training students with Wendell Levitt as president and Eleanor Churchill as reporter.
Alta Hope and Benietta Lambley earned 100 percent spelling marks. The notice lists top performers in grades six through eight.
Students listed include Quentin King Belva Ritchey and others from last week, with ties noted in the segment. Names appear misspelled or partially garbled in the report.

Families such as Posten King Moore Shipley Stowell Levison Morley and Johnson hosted or traveled during the period with arrangements for cattle testing and caregiving noted.
Mr and Mrs James N George of Hopkins mark their fiftieth wedding anniversary on February 10 with family and friends. George born November 28 1866 in Mercer county Missouri and Sarah Wells born November 26 1866 in Andrew county Missouri. They wed February 10 1889 in Bedford and have lived near Hopkins most of their lives. He is a Woodman, former Chester White breeder, former hardware merchant, currently Justice of the Peace and former Hopkins police judge. They have two daughters Ena Covey and Ethel Campbell.
Mr and Mrs John Houston hosted the Pinochle club Sunday evening and Mr and Mrs Stanley Swanson hosted the Chat N Con tract club Friday evening. Thad Swanson will be hostess to Chapter K P E O Friday afternoon.
Miss Katherine Browne entertained the Art club on Thursday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Elmer Hutcherson hosted the bridge club on Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Herbert Enis and Mr and Mrs Harold Ringgold entertained the young married people group at the Recreation Room on Friday evening.
Hopkins locals Mr and Mrs Walter Newton and daughter Mary Jo of Kansas City visited Mr and Mrs Ira Newton last week. S D Cook had a small roof fire at his home Monday morning. Mr and Mrs Paul Gates and son were guests of Mr and Mrs Fred Griffey at Clearmont Sunday. Miss Martha Harmon of St Joseph was a weekend guest of Miss Margaret Hanna. Mrs Guy Lewis of Beartown Ill spent a few days last week with Mr and Mrs Irvin Hanna and relatives.
A group of friends hosted a Sunday evening surprise party on February 12 to honor C M King on his seventy third birthday. Refreshments were served. attendees included Mr. and Mrs. W A Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rusco, Mr. and Mrs. C R Sickels, Prof. and Mrs. George Campbell, Mrs. King and Harry. King, born February 12 1866 at Platteville Taylor county, marked the occasion.

Sunday visits mark a quiet day as Donald Dean, son of the Weavers, recovers from serious illness. Mrs. F O Wilson spends the day with her ailing father Isaac Rackabaugh and with her sister and husband Harry Young. Roy Reed and family of Blockton visit relatives, including Mr and Mrs Roy. Daws gon.
The junior class presented Simple Simon Simple at the school auditorium with Miss Lucy Meloy directing. Performances occurred Thursday and Friday evenings showcasing student actors and the school’s drama program.
Rev Nicholas of St Joseph preached both morning and evening at the Christian church Sunday. The church has been without a pastor the past year since Rev L B Day resigned on half time and took up full time at the Pickering charge.
Bert Mrs. Guy Stingley returned Friday from a few days visit in Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bayles of Clarinda spent Sunday at the Luther Cook home.
The administrator with will annexed, J G Thompson, appointed January 24 1939 by the Taylor County Iowa District Court, invites all indebted parties to pay and all creditors to present legally authenticated claims for court allowance. James R Locke attorney.
