The Gravity Methodist Church announced preaching at 10 with the sermon titled The Stewardship of Time and an evening service at 7 30 followed by meditation. The weekly schedule includes prayer services on Wednesdays at 9 30. A church obituary notes Ida Florence Davis born 1867 died 1947, and Chas Martin sustained injuries in a fire.
Morley Lewis Morley born September 24 1865 in Henry county Illinois died February 7 1947 at Methodist Hospital Des Moines aged 81 years 4 months 13 days. He moved to Yorktown Iowa as a child and married Jennie Jewell in 1886. four children survive him along with twelve grandchildren. He was sheriff of Taylor county two terms and active in Gravity community life. His second wife Ida Scott survives.
Miss Lorna Stafford of Mount Ayr spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Harry Stafford. Viv and Mrs Wayne Lacott were in St Joseph Monday to shop. Mr and Mrs Edmond Morley of California visited his parents Mr and Mrs Harry Morley. Mr and Mrs Jam te Morris of Pompeys Pillar Montana left for home after visiting his brother Paul Morris and family. Mr and Mrs Milton Wilson of Phoenix arrived to visit his parents Mr and Mrs Jess Wilson. Jess Wilson is ill. Mrs Pete Dougherty and children of Clarinda visited her parents. Tra Moore rs Cora White and Miss Zona Posten were business callers in Omaha Monday. Fred Morley of San Marino California arrived after illness and death of his father Lew Morley. Mrs Stella Posten of Shenandoah visited Zona Posten. Mrs Marie Johnson and Dorothy Lewis of Shenandoah visited her mother Mrs Alfred Hanson. Mr and Mrs J B Howmain and son Dale, Mr and Mrs Dug Ferguson of St Joseph, Mr and Mrs A M Deaver and two daughters of Lamont visited M C Stempel. Charley Bean plans a month in Seneca Kangis with his two daughters. S Sgt Claude R Campbell, recently visiting his parents, left for Fort Warren near Cheyenne where he is stationed. he was summoned by the death of his grandfather L E Morley.
The Sharpsburg area raised 109.05 dollars with drives led by Lillie Million and Mardell Ratliffe, while Marshall township contributed 359.95. Church and club activities included a Canvass Day, a Junior Girls Club meeting, and a Presbyter ian Ladies Aid event. Local residents attended social gatherings, birthdays, and visits across Sharpsburg and nearby towns.
