Obituary of Mrs Jesse Henderson and Siam notices

Mrs Jesse Henderson Alice Ruth Smith born June 11 1887 in Taylor county Iowa died January 30 1946 age 58 years 7 months 19 days. She married Charlie Culbertson December 13 1905 and had son Charlie T Culbertson Culbertson died 1908. She later married Jesse L Henderson May 26 1912 and had Howard L Henderson and Mary Ellen Dunn ers. Funeral at Christian church Siam burial in Siam cemetery. Survivors include husband three children six grandchildren four sisters two brothers and many relatives with community notices of visits, gatherings, and club events in and around Siam Iowa.

Mrs Crystal Manley returns from Canon City Colorado after illness and death in family. Ralph Clayton accompanies her home. Mr and Mrs Harry Clayton and son were guests for dinner in Shambaugh. Several other local families hosted visitors and relatives over the weekend. Irvin Davison discharged and home. Mrs Davison and baby with relatives in Lisbon. Don Farlow of Des Moines visited parents Mr and Mrs Floyd Barlow.

Hopkins Bulldogs Sweep Spoofhounds In Home Victory

Hopkins Bulldogs defeated Maryville Spoofhounds 41 to 26 on their home court Tuesday night January 29. Six seniors Reynolds Canty Gill P Peve Turner and M Peve played their final home game with the athletic department of the school. The team plans to play Maryville again February 5 and earlier visits included a 45 to 9 win over Central High in St Joseph on February 1. Friends entertain at dinner with Ottumwa visitors

Mr. and Mrs. Ora Friend hosted a Sunday dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Earl Olmsted of Ottumwa. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Linville and their children of Maryville, plus Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Olmsted and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olmsted. The occasion featured a Valentine theme.

Sheridan couple wed in Troy on January thirtieth

Miss Deloris Howes daughter of Mr and Mrs Willard Howes became the bride of Warren Lester son of Mr and Mrs John Lester in a Wednesday ceremony at Troy Kansas. They will reside on a farm northwest of Sheridan.

New officers were deleted including President Nellie Piper and secretary Flora Ginn. A club gift was given to Mary Osmond who is moving away. Mrs Piper taught a lesson on British Isles and economic issues. Refreshments followed. Neighbors Shuck Corn For Pvt Kirbys War Effort

A group of neighbors and friends helped Pvt and Mrs Virgil E Kirby by shucking corn Friday. Thirty eight men and many women contributed with two corn pickers five tractors and an elevator. Dinner was provided by numerous local women.

Conway Local Visitors and a State Commerce Hearing

Local social notes show numerous weekend visits among Conway residents and nearby towns. The Iowa State Commerce Commission scheduled a February 19 1946 hearing on Docket E7237 to consider an electric transmission line franchise across private lands with objections due five days prior.
