Conway residents host a farewell for Lee Spencer and wife as they move to Hopkins near Hopkins. Numerous local social notes cover visits, meetings, and CCC camp activities. contest winners listed with names and scores. Miss Boyle and others judged. performances by a clarinet quartet and rhythm band.
Conway center stage as the Cyclones pull a 24 to 15 win over Delphos on home court. Sharpsburg led 10 to 1 after one, 16 to 9 at halftime, then Conway’s defense tightened. Charles Gold hit a late 3 as Conway rode to a 21 to 20 comeback victory.
The list names Betty Beemer, Lyle Fine, Elmer Freemyer, Kath erine Hunter, Genevieve Stafford, Helen Straight, Maxine Clayton, Alice Hawn, Ruth Hogue, Cather ine Marshall, Jeanette Norton, Bertha Woodruff and Velma Younkin as those who made 100 in spelling on Friday.

Mrs Golda Manley Cade and Sam Catuska were married in Nebraska Sunday, reflecting Siam residents. Local social notes record visits and dinners among families including Stewarts Fine and related relatives, with travel to St Joseph and Wathena. Mrs John Key was taken to the hospital in Nevada Iowa on Thursday accompanied by her children Howard and Beulah Cree of Lenox also Myrtle Brown. Mrs Key has been in failing health for some time but was taken seriously ill a few days ago. condition reported some better but still serious. Mr and Mrs Charlie Reed entertained the Kum Join Us class of the Presbyterian church Wednesday evening. Mrs Cora Hamblin Mattie Reed Lowell Shum Olive Nickels and her son of Gravity were guests of Mrs Jessie Cundy Thursday. Nebraska returned home Saturday. Mrs Clara Hegwood spending a few days with her mother Mrs Jones in Lenox. Miss Ferne Farnham was Clarinda visitor Saturday.
The L A L club met with Mr and Mrs Byron Butler on Thursday evening. Guests included Mr and Mrs Clyde Dame wood and Mr and Mrs Hawley Mahaffey of Lenox. Several locals and visitors are mentioned including Grimm family from Osceola and Bedford, Conway, Creston, and New Market connections. A corn hog program drew about fifty farmers at the Presbyterian church. Multiple residents moved, recovered from surgery, or visited kin in Bedford and surrounding towns.
Sharpsburg lost the second team game to Redding 6 to 37 while the Sharpsburg boys won the first team clash 29 to 28. Waubonsie conference tourney set for Gravity February 7 8 9. Conway and Blockton girls open Thursday with a marquee boys bout. Friday features Nodaway Gravity girls and Nodaway New Market boys. Saturday 1:30 pm winners meet and Sharpsburg faces Blockton. 7:45 pm girls winners play. 9:00 pm final game.
Kathryn Heywood will represent Sharpsburg High at the county declamation contest in New Market on February 14. Dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rutledge, Howard Rutledge, and Richard Underwood visiting Miss Helen Abarr of Redding, who teaches there after formerly teaching at Sharpsburg.

The A. C. Davis farm west of Gravity is mentioned. Mr and Mrs Lee Travis returned to their St Louis home after visiting Mrs Travis parents Mr and Mrs Frank Smith for three weeks. Mrs Alice Johnson, once ill, is improving. Mrs Kate Alvord, ill last week, is improving. Mrs E V Creech is recovering from illness.
Mrs. Harry Himiller entertained the Sunshine club Thursday afternoon. Refreshments were served.
The Birthday club members and their families enjoyed a dinner at the home of Mr and Mrs Harve Hoffman Sunday. Presently the Ep worth League of Nodaway young people presented a play The Hearts Cry.
A community meeting was held at the Guss church on Wednesday with refreshments of cookies and coffee served. Mr. and Mrs. Will Rock visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Hess. Glenna Mae French spent the weekend in Villisca with Letha and Hazel Netto. Maxine Naven visited Verla Maye Branan for a few days last week. Luther Crussel and daughter Delpha left last week for a new home in Tennessee.
