The Society Club lists events from February 8 to February 13. Chili and soup supper at 7 p.m. February 8 in the Blue Check Room, and an open house for the Shanks 25th anniversary February 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the State Savings Bank Blue Check Room.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brummett of Ankeny celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on January 26 with an open house attended by 165 relatives and friends. Numerous relatives and friends from multiple states sent greetings and helped with refreshments and hosting duties.
The Order of the Eastern Star will honor married couples who are members at its regular meeting on Tuesday February 11 at 730 p m during February sweetheart month A special guest will be Vera Mae Baker Associate Grand Conductress Siam chapter The refreshment committee is Kathryn Harris Lois Scane Judy King and Ina Lou Marshall All members welcome to attend.
Clearmont Missouri residents Mr and Mrs Dean Blanchard announce the engagement of Brenda Clair Blanchard to Ronald D Cox son of Mr and Mrs James Cox Bedford The couple plan a summer wedding Brenda is a Northwest Missouri State University senior majoring in speech with French and English minors Ronald is a Northwest Missouri State University graduate with a BA in Agriculture Business and an earlier associate degree from IWCC Clarinda Both will marry in the near term.
The Blockton Bluebirds 4-H Club met January 9 at Lisa and Lora Dillon's home with 11 members present. They completed enrollment cards and reviewed year plans. A chili supper is planned for January 20. The exchange student will present the program. Regina Cavin hosts next meeting February 3. Reporter Lora Dillon.
A long list of weekend and past visits ties together Clarinda Newton Council Bluffs Glenwood and surrounding areas. Families including the Millers Stephens Reed and Walter share stories of relatives and friends visiting from Denver Omaha Boone Hopkins and Villisca. Mary Diane Henderson makes William Woods Dean's List.
February birthdays are listed for Bethel Nash Roy Lucas Matthena Lee and Ruby McPherron. Various visitors stop by Colonial Manor including Karen Brown Amy and Mike from Clarinda and Ross Hatfield from Rippey.
A flurry of visits and events across Blockton and nearby towns. Mrs Eldon Jackson and others traveled to Council Bluffs for a dentist visit and a Girl Scout meeting at the Ramada Inn. Households hosted dinners and family gatherings with neighbors and relatives throughout the week.
Mr and Mrs Pearl Barker of Loveland Colorado visited Earnest Barkers home and his mother Lillie Barker in Clearfield with other relatives. Alvin Barker and Cindy visited Helen Barker in Clearfield. The family thanks all for kindness after the passing of Anna Hunter Gunaca. Elmer Freemyer and Family J T Smalley.
