Maisie rejects the suitor and confronts Link while Diana Webley, Abby and Bob’s California cousin, arrives to witness the engagement. Maisie suspects Diana is deceptive and suspects a hidden motive behind her visit, deciding to stay.
Showgirl Maisie Raiier loses her job after a prank by Bob Rawls leads to her arrest for stealing his car. The judge orders Bob to employ Maisie for two months, and she becomes a maid in his family home. Tension rises with Abigail and Link Phillips engagement as Maisie clashes with guests and insults the crowd.
Maisie witnesses Abby's happy elopement plan unravel as Diana exposes a letter revealing Link's money driven engagement to Abby. Abby flees in panic while Maisie confronts Link, and Bob's shadow looms over a crumbling social circle at the Rawlston house.
The Taylor County Iowa Board of Supervisors moved to accept 75 cash as full settlement of all taxes on Lots 11 and 12 in Block 16 Original Town of New Market, tied to the old age assistance lien. Chairman Armstrong authorized the payment and the vote by T. F. Armstrong Ora Cade and W. W. Walker carried. Meeting adjourned to February 3, 1941.
Mrs. L G Cavin traveled to St Joseph for the weekend to visit Cora Cavin and relatives. Bert Brumfield and son visited his father Robert Brumfield. L G Cavin Albert Cavin of Blockton and Frank Cavin near town were summoned to St Joseph for Mrs Cora Cavin's illness. L G Cavin returned home reporting improvement. Floyd Woods of Blacktorff joined the Woods at the Cavin home.
G W Booker Sunday and John Balch visit Mrs Grace Balch. Katherine Harris and Elva Freeland spend weekend in Shenandoah. G A Bownes trips to Bedford. Gene Hays and Anna Leer visits in various towns. Many other local family visits and small business trips noted across Isadora New Market Bedford Maryville Platteville and surrounding areas. Ray Rusco leaves CCC camp for Army.
Three Sheridan youths are noted for new paths. Dwight Seckman, who works at J. C. Penney in Elyria Ohio, is to enter U S military service January 28 and may be sent to Mississippi. Jake Campbell, long employed at Plymouth Clothing in St Joseph, has been named manager in El Paso Texas and will relocate with his wife and two children joining him later. Dale Dowls, a Plymouth shoe salesman in St Joseph, will become assistant manager at a shoe store in lower California.
Commerce reports social events and a bowling night at the Neil Cafe Tuesday. Notables include Maynard Caldwell Victor man Cleo Haun Jess Str Bob Riley and Oscars joining the bowling event. A charity Infantile Paralysis fund drive accompanies the gatherings.
