Duane Thummel of Ross township and Eldon Stroburg of Jefferson township were elected Commissioners of the Taylor Soil Conservation District last Monday. Both have long shown interest in conservation and applied practices on their farms. An SCS engineer surveyed the Blockton Watershed and the ISU Foundation Farm near Conway, with prep work for a large permanent structure this year. Don Hinton tenanted the Conway farm.

Methodist family night ends with bridal shower for Diana England
After a Thursday family night supper at the Methodist Church, Diana England received a bridal shower with many gifts. Sharon Landis and Sue Stroburg helped open gifts as Laura Landis, home from nurses' training in Omaha, visited Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Landis and siblings. The United Neighbors met at Margaret Thompson’s aunt’s home in Bedford with three guests and Lois Shay leading the afternoon program.
