SIAM Highland chapter CES meets at Masonic hall
The Highland chapter 523 CES held a regular meeting at the Masonic hall Wednesday evening. Members and visitors attended with refreshments served. The Ladies Aid Society of the M E church gathered Thursday afternoon with 11 members and two visitors present. A future all day meeting is set for Thursday Feb 11 with quilting planned. The west side Pinochle club met Friday evening with refreshments. A group of young people spent Thursday evening with Miss Jeffers and Dennis Jeffers. Ford Floyd Farlow home hosted monopoly games. Mrs Elvin McIntyre and son Robert visited Clarinda with her parents to help care for her ailing mother. Mrs Joe Stewart was ill but improving.

Athelstan and nearby areas suffered rain and snow with ice Friday night making walking hard. Word reached here of Mrs. Ernest Black's death at Clifton Colorado on Saturday January 23. Mr. and Mrs. Black had lived in this community before moving to Colorado. The Stitch and Chatter club met with Mrs. Joe Rusco Thursday January 28 to sew carpet rags. The next meeting is set for February 11 with Mrs. Rey Kenery.

Flood Relief Fund Backed by Faculty and Students
The faculty and students in both grade and high school contributed to the Flood Relief Fund to aid residents of flood stricken districts. A Lenox game scheduled for Feb. 1 was postponed due to Lenox seeking a Des Moines game and the death of Mr. Connor.

Waubonsie Tournament set for Sharpsburg Thursday to Saturday. Conway Girls travel to Nod for Thursday night action while the Conway Boys host Sharpsburg Friday night. Conway Cyclones defeated Sharpsburg 22 to 18 Friday, both Conway squads unbeaten in conference play. Reserve unit played for the girls and lost 15 to 19.
