Bedford Teachers Spend Christmas Vacation at Home and Nearby

Bedford area staff members and teachers plan extended holidays visiting relatives in Iowa Missouri and California. Many will return to Bedford for basketball practice or to resume duties after Christmas.

Snowball Dance a Big Success at BHS

About 115 BHS seniors attended the traditional snowball dance in the gym on Monday evening December 17. Jim Lucas directed the program during intermission. Carolyn Cummings Cecile Hoffman Cheryl O Dell and Barbara Snyder sang with Phyllis Jones as accompanist. Elaine Cummings Barbara Snyder performed a humorous skit Bob Beck sang a solo with Julia Meikle. Harold Shepherd read humorously to end the evening.

Homemaking III Girls Entertain Faculty At Xmas Tea

The BHS homemaking III class hosted a Christmas tea for the faculty on Wednesday December 19 at 4 00 pm. Red and green decor and refreshments like cookies and punch set a festive mood as 12 students under Miss Barbara Fox completed a meal planning and serving unit. Journalists Nominate Top Tens for 1956 News

BHS journalism students submitted booklets of top story candidates to instructor J. H. Taylor. Each student failed to nominate ten stories, clipping and annotating facts. Frequent selections include Babe Zaharias’s death Eisenhower’s reelection 1956 Olympics the Suez Canal and the Hungarian situation.

Janitors Re seal Floors At BHS Bedford School

Bedford School custodians perform Christmas vacation projects removing furniture to scrub wax and reseal floors in both buildings including gymnasium stage and office areas. Max Cox head custodian says the work will take nearly the entire break.

BHS Students Read Reader's Digest in World Problems Class

Seventeen members of the BHS world problems class enjoy reading Reader’s Digest articles and reporting on them. The digests are provided by the school and other students and faculty may obtain issues at a school rate of 1.60 dollars for ten issues.

Rev Loehr Speaks at BHS Chapel December 17

Rev Clement Loehr, local Presbyterian minister, spoke at the BHS chapel on December 17. He used most of the talk to explain the scriptural phrase in those days by detailing Jewish wars and uprisings before Christ and facts about the ancient Roman government.

School Dismissal After Carol Sing Following Program

On Friday December 21 at 12 45 p m a student program included a carol sing followed by refreshments served by the teacher. The school was dismissed after the event.
