Funeral for Joseph Gilbreath Held in Lenox

Funeral services were held at Arnold funeral home for Joseph Gilbreath father of Mrs. Mary Sweeley after a several weeks illness. The body went to Adel for services at the Christian church and burial in Oakdale cemetery. Reverend E. F. Hagee conducted the rites.

Guss Church Hosts Social and Bazaar Events

Mrs. Edward Huntington entertained the J. D. K. group Thursday afternoon at Guss. The Ladies Aid held its annual bazaar at the Guss church Friday evening with a large crowd attending. A cooperative supper followed.

The Helping Hand Club and families held an oyster supper with all trimmings at Mr. and Mrs. Harve Hoffman on Saturday December 3. The group presented Mr. and Mrs. John Spring with a waterless cooker as a gift.

Local Quilting and Visits Populate Guss Community

Guss locals Mrs Harve Hoffman and Mrs Viola Branan spent Friday quilting with Mrs Branan. Mrs Anna Andrew visited at her son Ralph Andrew's home for several weeks. Nearby, Mr and Mrs Ross Woods and Leonard joined Mr and Mrs Walter Williams near Stanton Wednesday. Several other neighbors hosted and visited, with trips to Holt township and Omaha for shopping and stock sales.
