A son named Mark was born on December 1 to Mr. and Mrs. David Dudley of Gedford. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dudley and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Moriarty of Cincinnati Iowa. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dudley of Centerville, Mrs. Mary Moriarty, and Mrs. Opal Fields of Cincinnati.
Bedford Community and Western Community Center of Creston announce a General Educational Development program. It aids nonhigh school graduates to complete GED testing for the Iowa High School Equivalency Certificate. The course is free. a $5 assessment is due at testing. A meeting is set for Tuesday December 7 at 7:00 PM in Gravity Junior High eye room. call Blaine Sibipe at 523-2114 for details.
Several churches publish Sunday School and worship times. St Timothy Lutheran Church offers 9:45 a m worship with 11 am Lutheran Hour on Sundays. Gravity Christian Church lists 9:45 am Sunday School and 11 am worship with evening Bible study and midweek services. Jehovahs Witnesses at The Kingdom Hall hold book study and ministry school on specified evenings. Sacred Heart Church notes a 5 pm Saturday service. Gravity also lists Wednesday choir practice and youth meetings.
Reverend Ray McCain leads Sunday School at 9 30 and Worship at 10 45 at Presbyterian Church. Hamilton Memorial Missionary Church lists Pastor Larry Secor with 9 45 Sunday School, 10 45 Morning Worship, 7 30 Sunday Evening Service, Thursday Family Night, plus nursing home visits and a radio program Your Worship Hour Sundays at 8 30 on KMA with Pastor Q Everest.
Oak Hill residents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Guess hosted relatives from Weatherby Missouri while Francis Hogan from LaCrescent Minnesota visited Ken Barker and family. The Hogan and Barker reunions followed a 26 year gap since WW II service. Kennard Barker of Maryville joined the family for Thanksgiving dinner.
Instructions from Taylor County and ISU Extension stress obtaining a complete seed test and label. Include seller name and address, seed kind and variety, lot number, and percentages of pure seed other crop weed seed inert material and germination.
Families from Gravity Sharpsburg Bedford Corning and surrounding areas shared Thanksgiving together. Guests included the Slack Liston Reed Posten West Martin Robey Barker and Houchin families with visits to relatives in Haiti nearby towns and churches. Community members offered condolences to the Pfander Reynolds family.
Tomahawk Seed Laboratory in Marion is qualified to test seed for sale in Iowa. Each container must be labeled with purity analysis noxious weed seed and germination information. The germination test date must be within nine months of sale. If seed is in bulk the label may be on a tag attached to the bin or the lab report may be attached to the bin. Seed tags are available from the Iowa Crop Improvement Association, Iowa State University, Ames. Printed tags cost 4 cents and unprinted 2 cents per tag.
The December Cub and Troop Leaders Roundtables for the Bluegrass Scout District will meet Thursday December 14 at 7 30 p m at United Methodist Church Creston. Marion Jetton New Market leads the program with Don Schwartzhoff Bedford and Mike Ballard and Connie Ballard Creston assisting. The event targets cub masters den leaders scout masters and assistants.
