Siam William Damewood aged 87 years 2 months 28 days died at his Clarinda home early Monday August 15 He is survived by daughter Anna and four sons Dean Clyde Stanley and Charles Damewood moved from Siam neighborhood fifteen years ago as an early settler Short funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 1 15 p m and at the M E church in Siam at 2 30 p m Rev W C Proctor in charge Burial was in Shearer cemetery

Siam Chautauqua opens with Adorable and moving pictures
The 1938 session of home talent Chautauqua opened Tuesday evening August 9 with the play Adorable staged by a Valley district group and drew a large audience. On Wednesday evening Clarinda performers presented a program with moving pictures of Siam folks to a capacity turnout. Next Wednesday evening August 17 the North Star group will present the play Dizzy and Daffy at the community hall.

Lizzie Cleo Brown Davis born January 6 1894 in Taylor County Iowa died August 9 1938 at Boulder Sanatorium Colorado aged 44. She joined the Seventh Day Adventist church early and remained a devoted member. She married Fred L. Kerns in 1917 and had three sons Ray Jake and Joe Kerns. After Kerns death in 1925 she moved to Nebraska and married Leslie H. Davis in 1927. Funeral at M E church Sharpsburg burial Clearfield cemetery. The family thanks relatives friends and helpers for flowers singers and aid.

Automobile crash near Matt Finch home injures youth
Tom Walston's car struck freshly graded dirt west of town near the Matt Finch residence Monday evening. The vehicle suffered heavy damage and one boy suffered a cut from shattered glass. Walston was with his daughter and three sons at the time.
