The Jackson 4 H Boys Club met at Forrest Grove Church on April 3 to plan attendance at the purebred Angus cattle sale in Clarinda in early May. They discussed a new soil conservation project and planned a roller skating party. Each member brought refreshments.

4-H Etiquette Demo and Contouring Lesson Held
A 1946 4-H event featured tips on table etiquette by Madylene Hawkee Mary A Baker and Rhoda Nickelson at Mary A Baker’s home with horseback arrivals. Planned all day session for April 27 and regular meeting April 13 included games and a contouring class taught at Walter Roberts farm Grove Township.

Faulk to Judge Livestock at Taylor County Fair
Kenneth R. Falk, Page County extension director, will judge livestock and 4-H entries at the Taylor County Fair. The County Service Committee met Saturday to discuss plans for the coming year with Roy Newkirk, W. G. Floren, and Frank Stingley in attendance. A Farm Bureau Victory Picnic is planned after harvest to celebrate 680 members and 190 new additions, with a basket dinner at the Lake of Three Fires for members and families.

Slides On Soil Erosion Shown At Marshall 4 H Club
Slides on soil erosion were shown and the Marshall 4 H Club was told about the county Soil Erosion contest at Ray Breach home Tuesday evening. The club’s calves are healthy and most members carry insurance. Marshall is first club to return enrollment reports. Crackers, celery and drinks were served after.

Farming group urges more couples to join county circle

Hopkins City Election Yields Small Vote Totals
In Tuesday’s city election on April 2 only 131 votes were cast. F. L. Rickard won reelection as mayor along with aldermen James Owen and Roy Sturgeon. Charles Fleming became city collector, S. T. Gilbert was named city marshal, and Art Yager was chosen police judge. In the school race L. R. White and Glen Woldruff were reelected.

Obituary for Elbert Burrows of Gravity Iowa
Elbert Burrows born December 22 1876 in Jefferson Henry County Iowa died April 3 1946 at his Gravity Iowa home. He lived most of his life on a Gravity area farm and spent over thirty years in the harness business. He wrote handwritten letters each spring to one hundred farmer friends. After retiring he read extensively and studied the Bible. Surviving: one sister Mrs Clara Kysar of Gravity.

The funeral was conducted Saturday at 2:00 pm by Rev C W Proctor of Sharpsburg for a deceased with several nieces and nephews surviving. The service took place at the Gravity Methodist church following a prior obituary notice.

Eva Lucile Houk Williams born May 2 1903 at Cameron Junction Wisconsin died April 6 1946 aged 37 years 1 month 4 days. She joined the Christian church at age eleven and attended East High School Des Moines later earned a missionary diploma. She married Daniel Williams March 28 1931 and they had a son Virgil Gilbert Williams who lives with his grandparents Harry and Mrs Houk. Surviving: her son her parents one brother L Rex Houk of Sheridan Missouri two cousins Joseph Boyer and Mrs Dorothy Beal. One brother E Clark Houk preceded her in death. Funeral Monday at the Christian church Bedford conducted by Rev Ben W Sinderson assisted by Rev W A Purdy. Burial Gravity Cemetery.
