U S 10th Corps pulls deeper into last Hungnam defense as Chinese Reds step up pressure with larger patrols. Reports from multiple AP bureaus confirm ongoing movement and allied strategic posture near North Korea coast.
A coroner jury ruled an automobile death an unavoidable accident after Joseph Engle of Walkerville Maryland was absolved of blame for the crash on the icy Pennsylvania Turnpike that killed six year old Helen Boop. Witnesses said Warren Boop of Mifflinburg pulled over on the highway to change drivers and that the parked car was struck by a tractor trailer.
Two Pittsburgh men James Elis and James W Prince were moved from Bedford county jail to Somerset to await a U S marshal for federal narcotics warrants. The men suspected of a confidence game and larceny by deceit were linked to heroin found in their car after state police traced the case to Everett and Laurel Hill area.
Bedford in 1950 hosts a two division Christmas home lighting contest sponsored by the Bedford Professional Women's Club. Prize money totals ten cash awards led by a $10 top prize for "The Spirit of Christmas" with other awards of $5, $5, $8 and $2.
