Governor Hammill proclaims September 13 to 19 as American Legion Endowment Fund week in Iowa. Federal aid to be given for paving primary road 16

District Engineer Martin visited Bedford to review paving of primary road 16 at the north city line. Federal aid was approved by the county board and forwarded to the state highway commission. The plan calls for an 18 foot strip of reinforced concrete with no curb and gutter, cost to be shared by adjacent property owners for cement and a one mile redress. If property owners along the route want wider paving and gutters, they may pay for the excess as standard paving. The federal government covers the 18 foot strip and the city handles any additional work. A joint committee will visit Ames to discuss the proposal.
