City council grants petition and plans site repairs
The March meeting approved repairing the city hall back wall and extending a chimney to basement level to allow future furnace installation. A barn and jail chapel wall would be repurposed for a new supply house near the filler plant. Residents backed a sewer extension from North Street to Lewis Street, with engineers to review. Objections arose to a Crumbels produce house, but the council saw no obstacle if sanitary standards are met. A park petition was approved for consideration, with a hospital proposal discussed as a potential city project. The treasurer warned drag funds are slim, with only about 18.45 left and one mill levy limits. Measures seek state action to boost road funding for local streets.
