The remains of Harley Thompson were brought from Glidden and funeral services held at his mother's home conducted by Rev. Griffith after a fatal fall on a scaffold. Pleasant Home Coming Family Reunion at DeHaven Home

Mr and Mrs J H DeHaven entertained their children and relatives at a reunion dinner in east town. Attendees included Mrs M A Sawyer of Bedford Mr and Mrs J B Shaw and children Kenneth and Mise Helen of Colorado Mr and Mrs John DeHaven Jr of Kansas City and Mrs Bud Taylor southwest of town. The day followed the usual order of such gatherings and memories linger as bright spots in family histories.

Rain Fills Municipal Lake After Weekend Downpour

Heavy rains fill the municipal lake covering about fifteen acres with water level rising two feet on Sunday night. On Monday morning a large volume of water passed over the spillway as readers note the calculation of gallons added by the rain.

Essex to Build New City Hall From Estate Bequest

The town of Essex Page county will erect a new city hall funded by the estate of the late D. F. Hastings valued at $300 000. The will directed distributions to relatives and charitable institutions and included two lots for the site of the city hall wall.

Adams County Fair Opens With Speed Ring Parade

The Adams County fair began Monday and runs through Wednesday evening. Officials say the speed ring is the best they have ever had. An automobile parade and airship flights are also featured as part of the festivities.

Obituary notes Ave Cobb died at his Ross township home on Sunday July 11 at 4 PM. Funeral at Berea church conducted by R G Edwards of Kansas City. Interment Bedford cemetery Ambrose. Cobb born May 20 1842 in Parke County Indiana. Civil War veteran, married Jan 2 1870 to Matilda Foreman. Survived by wife four daughters and one son, plus sister and two brothers. Michael, a 46 year old from Bedford St Joseph, died after ingesting carbolic acid at his home 1025 Grand Ave. He had been ill and out of work, survived by wife and three children. He belonged to Golden Red Court, Tribe of Ben Hur, and Modern Brotherhood of America. Coroner Thomas Lynch to hold inquest. body moved to Meierhofer undertaking home.
