The Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777. The Columbia sailed to world ports 1787 to 1790 bearing the flag. the Bedford first displayed it abroad in 1783. John Paul Jones raised the first Navy flag on Ranger. France recognized it then. Navy and army flags cost about 3000 dollars per ship, with frequent renewals, original flag made in Philadelphia from English imports in 1776.
Government urges every farmer to boost production and use all food efficiently. Citizens are urged to join in the effort, with noncompliance labeled as slacking. The message frames agricultural duty as patriotic labor.

The administratrix Nora B Dunlavy announces on April 4 1917 that all debts must be paid to the estate of S E Hays and all claims must be presented to the court for allowance. The notice requests authenticated claims and identifies the administrator.
The advertisement promotes Cal Stewart known as Uncle Josh, claiming his voice has reached Alaska to Florida and urging readers to attend a live appearance at Clark's Theatre on the evening of April 21. Tickets available at Gooding Bros. store with a Saturday after noon handshake event.
