Linseed Oil for Animal Fattening in Historic Report
A historical note describes linseed oil and linseed cake as fattening agents for cattle hogs and horses. It cites an 18th or 19th century experiment from Jamaica Massachusetts via John Prince and a New England Farmer item claiming five gallons of linseed oil fattened a cow faster than typical feeds. The account details a cow fed oil with bran for three days then continued fattening, with meat quality praised by a butcher and buyers.

Improved fence by John B. Wickersbem in New York
John B. Wickersbem of New York has patented an improved iron fence. The design uses sectional posts with interlocking rail slots and end loops, dobby screws every 30 feet, and reinforced post bases. The fence combines elasticity and strength with reduced cost, comparable to cedar, and suitable for farms, with rust protection via paint and varied color options.
