In Exon on Sept. 30 1862 the Lailies Union Aid Association held a public dinner in the Grove to aid soldiers. Prof Mills led the crowd with cheers for the Union and the President. Speakers included Rev Exton Rev Burbage and Rev W B Watkins. Music by Run Martin Green Donalson and others. About 1659 dollars raised. crowd enjoyed a substantial dinner and patriotic speeches. Peter Crowl presided Witrias S Young secretary.
Workmen at the Brooklyn navy yard claim a ship now under construction will be named the Shamrock and say an Irish crew could man it without draft. They reference Secretary Welles and Delano supervising the vessel.
