A long feature from the 1862 issue describes The Semi Weekly Tribune's Republican stance and broad wartime coverage. It includes editorials on emancipation, Union prospects, and the stance against foreign intervention, with letters from E. W. Gantt urging unity and peace, and a note on Confederate sentiment and surrender, plus miscellaneous notices and a town tragedy.
An 19th century ad lists onions and oysters provided by a hotel and saloon near the market. It mentions quality oysters by the dozen and furnishing options. The notice praises patronage and preserves the establishment’s name while listing shop items such as scissors pins purses and sewing supplies sold at Be. O. Cummins store.
Fragmentary remark portrays a blacksmith’s reply that he can labor in his shop to improve character rather than seek formal redress through the county. He suggests court action would yield little for a year, hinting at user frustration with legal routes.
A garbled 19th century transcription describes scattered political figures and events including references to House of Representatives districts in Missouri and Mississippi, a political agitation tone, and an odd street scene with a misidentified husband. The piece mixes names like Benj FF Kean and Gov. G with unclear local actions and public reaction.
Fragments show a seal or coin edge inscription with the phrases God we bli 93 and The Commonwealth of England. One side gestures to religious language while the other references the Commonwealth.
The article notes growing desertions from the rebel army since Bragg's expulsion from Middle Tennessee. Grant's troops remain in high spirits with veteran corps rejuvenated. Officials say at least four fifths of the selection force will enlist for the new term.
