Beaver Pennsylvania catalogs show a multi-day county fair with premium lists for crops horses grapes and vines. Judges named include R H Barclay J J Hazen and J Potter with entries detailing cattle horses wine grape and garden classes and travel expenses for judges. Entries require entrants to submit names by August 20 1866 and note multiple classes with prize amounts and eligibility criteria.
Readable fragments show a detailed list of livestock classes including cattle and sheep with titles like Devon cow and Leicester ewe, plus multiple divisions for domestic manufactures, field crops, farming implements, fish and furnishing, and mechanical implements. Judges are named for each class and premiums range widely in dollars.
Tar crops in southern Illinois are very fine. The rules cover membership, exhibit tagging, entry timing, judge conduct, premiums, and grounds rules for the fair. The 1866 notice urges county participation and notes crop quality improvements and fruiting trees.
