The Beaver Argus reports editor resignations and appointments in state and federal offices, party strategy in Ohio, and clashes between Democratic and Republican factions. It notes figures like J R Dexkussey, Dr. Gthon, and Gen. Meade, plus motions on economics and reconstruction policy and local libel controversies involving the Beaver county press.
The Beaver county case centers on Captain Barnes and editor Odell. Odell faces perjury after accusing Barnes of theft, arson, and other crimes, with a judge fining Odell and imprisonment while observers note political motives and media bias.
The text notes Republicans won Nebraska by a small margin in 1860 and increased their majority in October.
