Goose Creek food workers protest reduced hours
Food service employees at Goose Creek CISD protested at the district service center over hourly cuts that lowered pay. They cited a shift from eight to five hours in summer and lack of advance notice. District spokeswoman Beth Dombrowa said changes were announced in May and tied to a new instructional calendar and cost cuts, with a meeting planned at Baytown Junior School.

Galveston oyster lease ruled void amid dispute over STORM
The Third Court of Appeals and Judge Cox case centers on STORM led by Tracy Woody and Ben Nelson securing a 30 year coastal lease for 23 000 acres of Galveston Bay submerged lands from the Chambers Liberty Counties Navigation District for 1 50 per acre. Oyster business owners challenge the deal as backroom and monopolistic while Texas Parks and Wildlife asserts exclusive authority over planting and harvesting of oysters. The ruling declares the lease null and void and voidable against state licenses and permits and orders payment of legal fees.
