Barbers Hill Independent School District officials announced a Superior Achievement rating under Texas Schools FIRST, the state’s financial accountability system. The district was among 187 rated lower, with Schools FIRST aiming to maximize taxpayers’ money through strong financial management and reporting led by John Koonce and Superintendent Greg Poole.
The hospital provides free breast health services including mammograms to qualifying residents aged 40 to 65 or 65 plus without Medicare or with noncovering insurance. San Jacinto Methodist Cancer Center offers free cervical and prostate screenings at multiple locations in October. Appointments must be reserved by calling 832-667-5864. Locations include Norman L. Malone Senior Center La Porte, Mont Belvieu First United Methodist, North Main Baptist Liberty, J D Walker Baytown, Crosby Community Center, and San Jacinto Baytown. Screenings run 9 am to noon on designated dates in October.
