Reds Try To Lure Pilots into Traps
In Tokyo on September 26 an Army Pacific Stars and Stripes report said Communist radio operators have attempted to lure United Nations B 26 light bombers into anti aircraft traps with fake radio information. No aircraft have fallen for the ruse, and pilots of the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing were troubled by fake messages in late August and early September. Capt Harold B Offe noted that the Chinese often ask questions an air controller shouldn’t know, their radio procedure is weak but their English is fair, and when asked to authenticate they fail.
