Four people were injured in a head on crash in the 3000 block of Cedar Bayou Lynchburg. A westbound pickup veered off course and struck an eastbound car, with two occupants per vehicle. Victims were airlifted or ambulanced to Memorial Hermann Hospital around 7:10 p.m. Police called the area a high accident zone.
A resident on Northwood Drive was approached by a man at 10 p.m. Tuesday and given a ride to a nearby complex where he was attacked by five or six unknown men. He blacked out, awoke with EMS tending him, and found his wallet missing. Separately, a white Ford F-250 with license 11 Y KF1 and a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla were reported stolen from local properties, with a recovered vehicle near I-10 and John Martin Road. A laptop disappeared from a business parking lot on Garth Road, and other vehicle-related items were reported stolen in multiple nearby blocks.
Harris County officials note a shift from burials to cremations from 2009 to 2010 with 60 percent burials in 2009 dropping to 83 percent cremations in 2010. The plan to develop Crosby property into a cemetery will take years, as indigent burials need long term space and land values are favorable. The Crosby site remains a long term solution and the project is officially underway with a fence sign announcing Harris County Property.
Garza and Brumback urged expanding early voting to reduce confusion and speed the process. They emphasized voters register where they reside and noted two main equipment types in Baytown elections, election machines and coordinating IT gear, with enough of both expected.
