Lee College regents on September 20 approved reducing the district property tax rate from .2520 to .2410 per $100 of value. The move accompanies the FY 2012-2013 budget of 40.7 million dollars, reflecting a net decrease in state funding and a tuition rise of two dollars per credit hour. The district notes overall appraised value has increased due to growth, despite stable individual values.
Harris County Clerk Stan Stawart announced the first of about 100,000 absentee ballots mailed for the November 6 presidential election. The ballots target military and overseas voters, with 45,000 requests already processed and expected growth. Stewart urged early voting and noted redistricting may affect polling locations.
