Burglars pried open two Horace Mann Junior High offices and then the Lee High School business vault last night. They peeled a safe and took only 35 in change and loose bills from student funds, leaving receipts for a football game untouched. Police investigators H R Brown and F L Foster said access to the business office remains unclear and no fingerprints were recovered as the burglars wore gloves or issues.
The British French and US foreign and defense ministers closed a two day meeting with a communique on strengthening Europe’s defense. Rearming Germany was the main topic with French opposition to a German national army until allied forces are raised and equipped.
