Art Lintelman, a 12 year Baytown fire veteran and Navy veteran, is highlighted as the new chief. He and his wife live at 106 Gresham with one daughter and two grandchildren. Bailey is active in Woodmen of the World and is described as well liked in the department and community.
Louise Bounds reports a green 1967 Buick stolen from her residence on Wednesday. The vehicle bears license plate PYD 556.
Jewel Fuller of Baytown opens an exhibition of 21 paintings sponsored by Baytown Parks and Recreation at the community building. She produced the works last summer at Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta. Fuller will teach art at the civic center this fall with classes starting October 17 from 9 to noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A children's class Tuesdays afternoons and an adults night class Wednesdays are planned.
Mary Jane McDonald joins Judith Marston of Bay in Houston as one of 91 artists in the City Parks and Recreation fall schedule. She will teach voiceing for ages 13 to 18 at the Artisans League Gallery from Sept 24 to Oct 15, with weekly hours 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Baytown police investigated tire slashing incidents across the city. James Young reported four tires cut on his car parked at home from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning, loss about $100. Richard Hutchins of Bok Hamric Chevrolet said eight tires were cut on new cars at the 115 North Main car lot between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
