Incomes and poverty in Texas still not recovered
Texas trails in recovery from the 2008 recession with a median income below 2000 levels and high poverty and uninsured rates. In 2012 about 4.5 million Texans lived in poverty while the uninsured rate hovered near 25 percent. Medicaid expansion remains blocked by Gov. Perry, leaving 2.4 million under 138 percent of the federal poverty level without subsidies.

Stock market slips after record-setting day
New York AP reports the stock market paused after the Fed held steady on stimulus, with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 retreating from prior record highs. Gold surged the most in a single day since the 2008 crisis as investors awaited clearer signs of economic improvement.

Appeals court tosses DeLay conviction in money scheme
The Texas 3rd Court of Appeals ruled there was insufficient evidence to convict former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay of money laundering and conspiracy. Prosecutors argued DeLay funneled 190000 in corporate donations to Texas races, but the court said proceeds of crime were not proven. The ruling follows a 2010 jury verdict and a three-year prison sentence.
