Roseland Park in Baytown will receive major renovation for Southern Pacific Locomotive No. 895 with nearly 60000 dollars in funding from the Baytown Municipal Development District. The work includes sandblasting painting minor welding and protective sealer to preserve the 100 year old engine long a local landmark.

Baytown councils approves funding from the Baytown Municipal Development District for more than 11 park and project upgrades. Projects include a second City Gateway Monument at the Fred Hartman Bridge foot, Goose Creek Trail phases 5 and 6 with up to 500000 for 7000 feet of new trail, a trail bridge over Goose Creek, and 60000 to sandblast and repaint Locomotive No. 895 at Roseland Park.

Mont Belvieu to Hold Tax Rate in 2014
Mont Belvieu will keep its property tax rate at 43.7 cents per $100 valuation in 2014 despite a roughly $400 million drop in taxable property value caused by reduced inventory in underground storage. City Administrator Bryan Easum says the loss is not a crisis and the city buffers volatility with a larger fund balance for low years.

The Pilot Club of Baytown and regional Pilot Clubs sponsor the Walk to End Alzheimer's from 8 to 10 a.m. at Bayland Park on October 12. Donations welcomed with $100+ shirts while supplies last. $50+ plaques may be displayed. Proceeds support local services in Harris County.
