Chambers Home in Anahuac Named Historical Marker
Anahuac Texas home of Thomas Jefferson Chambers named a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The designation includes a Texas Historical Building Medallion with an interpretive plate. A dedication will occur in coming weeks with a Governor signed certificate to follow in local archives.

Anahuac American Legion Post To Install Officers
The Anahuac Freeman South Post 1 and its Auxiliary will hold a joint installation for new officers at the Legion Hall Tuesday night. Commander designate is Guy C. Jackson M7, with Mrs. Beryl Bond as Auxiliary president. Other officers include N. L. Phillips, C. E. Hunter, Walter Cooley, R. N. Dugas, Rev. C. L. Moore, Robert Nelson, and Auxiliary officers Lillian Hand, Eva Pearl George, Sue Hutchinson, Marilyn Strempel, Iva Kindel Porter, and Aileen Herman. Mrs Hilda Alice Morris will install Auxiliary executives. A covered-dish supper precedes the 8 p.m. ceremony. Freeman South Post 104 members and families are invited.

Crosby Marine Discharged After Two Years Service
Sgt. John Smith of Crosby was discharged from the US Marine Corps after two years of service including 11 months in Vietnam with a searchlight battery of the Third Marine Division. He completed basic training in San Diego and deployed to Vietnam in September 1967, with much of his service at Con Thien. He finished his tour at Marine Air Base El Toro, California, following graduation from Crosby High School in 19.
